Having been closed for nearly 3 ½ years, stage one of our multi stage project to bring this Inn back to its former glory is now complete. From May-July 2023 we have lovingly restored the internal parts of the pub, original parts shine again, artisan craftsman have seamlessly added to the fabric of the building and future proofed to ensure the pub remains the hub of the community for many years to come.
It’s with a huge sense of pride and gratitude that we announced that The Plough had been awarded its first AA Rosette For Culinary Excellence in 2023, an award we have retained in 2024. A big thank you to all our suppliers who provide us with the very best produce, our Kitchen Brigade who work tirelessly delivering great dishes, and our Front of House Team who keep all our guests happy and relaxed.
Serving quality wines and spirits, freshly made cocktails, craft beers, and top-notch traditional ale.
We’re well known for our fine yet unfussy dining experience where dishes are prepared using the finest local produce.
We are some of the luckiest people going. Why? Because we love what we do. We are mad about food and drink which arguably consumes too much of our time but hopefully that is reflected in what we offer and how we serve.
The bar on initial viewing is not the most conventional and probably requires you to chat to us, the payoff however is worth it. We have everything you want, it just might not be obvious on first viewing, hand pulled local ales, sit alongside continental lagers, an eclectic selection of spirits to suit every palate, a small but carefully curated cocktail list that reflects the seasons and what we are doing in the kitchen and our wine list…
Our wine list is our labour of love, at any one time we hold close to 200 wines, 20+ are always offered by the glass with regular specials on the black board, the list is European centric with careful consideration given to sustainability and organic wines.
Our food and menus naturally evolve, this is primarily down to us butchering everything where possible on site, native rare breeds and heritage fruit and vegetables also pay a huge part in our menus and while others pay lip service to ‘sourcing locally’ ours are reared or grown locally and we will proudly tell you where it comes from. Flour from Northamptonshire or Oxfordshire for our twice daily made breads, native rare breeds from this very village are just two small examples of the efforts the team have gone to. Fish (Northamptonshire is a long way from the sea!) is sourced from small family boats in Cornwall, Colchester & Scotland.
The menus online are samples only so if you are after today’s menu please email us, likewise our kitchen is tiny and while we will make every effort to accommodate dietary requirements advance notice will provide you with a greater series of options. Finally, our regular menu does not provide a plant based only experience, we are happy to provide this but due to our limited kitchen space 48 hours notice is required and should be mentioned when booking.
